COMPANY / PROJECT
DESCRIPTION

As FlexClub's Product Lead, I spent the past year overseeing the company's transition from a B2C to a B2B product. I was responsible for the company's rebrand, new product positioning, and leading the development and implementation of a new product. This case study provides an overview of my work at FlexClub.

ABOUT

FlexClub is a South African-focused startup that specializes in supporting mobility companies in offering risk assessment onboarding to their customers. As the company's Product Lead, my role was to oversee the development and implementation of a new product, which involved rebranding, new product positioning, and redesigning the checkout experience and user journey.

USER FLOW

When I first joined FlexClub, my initial task was to evaluate the company's current user flow, document pain points, and evaluate the steps and integrations involved in the checkout process. Through this process, I was able to identify areas for improvement and started documenting deliverables for the new user flow. By improving the user experience, we hoped to increase conversions and reduce user drop-offs in the checkout process.

At FlexClub I have developed multiple iterations of our onboarding flow. Focused on improving the User Experience and the risk model that sits behind it. In december of 2022 I redesigned our flow to be White-labelled to merchant needs. I worked closely with tech to define a skinning setup to automatically generate a new user flow based on certain parameters.

REBRANDING

I recognized the need to refresh the company's brand to better align with its transition to the B2B space. I undertook the task of developing a new brand book that included updated color schemes and graphics that were more fitting for our new product offering. Then I applied the new brand across all user communications, marketing materials, and the company external facing touch points. By refreshing the brand, we were able to better position FlexClub to align with Merchants needs.

DESIGN SYSTEM

As part of our efforts to improve the customer journey and dashboard at FlexClub, I focused on building a new design system in Figma. This system captured all the updated components and branding in one place, allowing for easier access and consistency across the design process. I built a variety of custom components and also took into account the base React framework that we were using for development. By creating this design system, we were able to streamline the design process and ensure that all components were consistent with our updated branding.

JUNCTION 2023

I've had the opportunity to work on some exciting projects over the years, including one where I spent a weekend building a GeoSpatial data dashboard for McKinsey Digital. During this hackathon, I was responsible for the design, pitch deck, and front-end development of our solution. The experience was challenging, but ultimately rewarding, and I gained valuable insights into how to approach hackathons. After the event, I wrote a blog post where I detailed the tactics and strategies I developed for approaching hackathons, including the importance of storytelling and pitch design. Our team had the opportunity to pitch on stage at the final event, and the experience taught me the value of staying focused on the main features of our prototype and planning accordingly.Overall, I'm proud of the work I've done on this project, and I look forward to continuing to tackle new challenges in the future.

JUNCTION HACKATHON

CROUD is a solution me and my friends built at Junction hackathon in Helsinki. It's a GeoSpatial data dashboard that helps manage crowds during large events using real-time data.

During the hackathon, my team and I spent a weekend developing CROUD. We focused on designing an intuitive user interface and implementing real-time data updates to help prevent overcrowding and improve safety during events.

As part of the team, I was responsible for designing the user interface, building the front-end, and crafting the pitch deck. It was a great experience to work collaboratively and utilize our individual strengths to create a successful project.

We presented our demo on stage at the final event, and the experience was incredibly rewarding. It was an opportunity to showcase our hard work and see the potential impact that CROUD could have in real-world situations.

During this hackathon we had to submit a two minute pitch about our solution. You can watch our pitch and the explanation of CROUD here.
